Bringing the 2014 Global Rallycross Championship to a close, Hoonigan Racing Divison's Ken Block dominated the final race of the season in Las Vegas and brought home his second win of the year.

Block, who was fastest in practice, won both of his heats, as well as taking his semi-final handily. He then seized control of the final, leading by a sizeable margin the entire race. He led every lap of every race of the event—complete domination.

Despite the dominating performance however, Block missed also taking the overall championship title by only 5 points. Going into the Vegas round, Block sat in second overall in the championship, just 12 points out of first. Through the heats and the final, Block closed that gap down to only 5 points but the series leader, fellow Ford driver Joni Wiman, finished the race right behind Block in second, helping fight off Block's attempt at snagging the championship title.

"It's a bittersweet win," said Block. "I drove my heart out today and did everything I could to win the championship title. My Ford Fiesta ran flawlessly and I definitely want to thank my team for helping keep me on top today. I've got one of the best motorsports teams in the world and given that we started the season with a lot of bad luck, it's awesome to be able to still finish it with a big season-ending win and a 2nd place championship trophy. I also want to thank Ford for their support all season long and also to congratulate them on their 4th consecutive GRC manufacturers championship. I’m stoked that I’ve been able to be a leading part of contributing to that title again this season.”

Block had a banner season in Global Rallycross during 2014, winning more heats than any other driver in the series as well consistently being the fastest qualifier. Block ends the season having won two races (Charlotte and Las Vegas) as well as grabbing a third in New York, a second in Daytona, a third in Los angeles 1 and a second in Los Angeles 2. In addition to the impressive group of finishes in GRC, Block also entered a handful of WorldRX rounds where he came away with a third place podium finish in his debut event during Norway RX and a fourth overall finish during France RX (an event where he also ended up setting the fastest lap of the entire event during competition).

Block’s next big event will be the global launch of Gymkhana SEVEN, coming later this month to The Hoonigan's YouTube channel.
