Kicking off his 2014 race season with a favorite event, Rally America’s Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, HRD’s Ken Block charged hard on day one of the event. His first time back racing a stage rally since his championship-ending crash last year at the Lake Superior Performance Rally, Block demonstrated excellent form, winning three of four stages before the first service (and getting a tie on one), as well as winning two of the four night stages. He finished the day 1st overall with a 20.6 second lead over first place and a commanding 1:06 lead over third, setting himself up nicely for Saturday’s day two stages.

“I’m very pleased with how things went for me today,” said Block. “It’s my first time back doing stage rally since that big off I had last season, so it feels great to sort of exorcise those demons and put down fast times here today. I’ve always loved these roads and done well here, so I feel like I’m back in a normal rhythm and my Ford Fiesta HFHV ran amazing all day. I’m looking forward to getting out there tomorrow and trying to open up some more time on the rest of the competition.”
